Here’s what to expect from the fabrication process

Project Kick-off

Following first contact, I engage clients in a discussion of their vision, style inspiration, and functional preferences to establish a scope of project. We exchange photographs, elevations or project plans and determine whether a site visit is necessary to secure detailed measurements.

Gathering Details

Meetings or site visits are scheduled, fabric consultation proceeds to establish required yardage and other material needs, and I provide client with a project estimate.

Approvals and Scheduling

With a project design established, cost estimate approved, and fabrics selected, the project is scheduled and any delivery or pickup of furniture is arranged.

Work Begins

Finalized design and materials in hand, work begins. Whether the fabrication of a cushion or lampshade, or the reupholstery of a treasured family piece, I execute the design every stitch, ruffle and pleat.

FAQs

Are project consultations free?

Yes! I’m happy to discuss your project and provide an estimate for you. If onsite measurements are necessary, I charge a nominal site visit fee for my time.

Are estimates the final agreed price?

With a finalized design, fabrication of pillows, cushions, bedskirts and lampshades are generally final prices. Reupholstery estimates are given with a price range that reflects the possibility of work being necessary on the frame, padding and suspension. If those aspects of the project require maintenance or rebuilding, I provide visual documentation and consult with the client before proceeding with the additional labor and material costs.

How long do projects typically take?

As a one person workroom, my lead time is currently 8-12 weeks. Expedited timelines are available for a rush fee.

How are project budgets managed?

When an estimate is approved, I require a 50% labor deposit and a full materials deposit to reserve space in my schedule. If the project is multi-stage, I work with the client to establish progress pricing. Prototyping work is priced on an hourly basis.

Are pickups and delivery included in the project cost?

If pickup and delivery are needed, I charge a van rental fee and an hourly rate for my time, agreed upon in the estimate phase.
